Do you tend to get more chest and back pimples in the warmer summer months?

I do! This is because we sweat more in Summer not only from the heat but also because we tend to be more active in the warmer seasons. The ugly combination of sweat and bacteria build up causing pores to clog which then result in pimples & body acne.

Also if you sweat during exercise such as a gym workout and then don’t shower but rather let sweat dry on your skin this also acerbates the germs on the skin, building bacteria and unwanted blemishes and spots can result.

So next time you go to hang that pretty backless or strapless dress back in your wardrobe because you have unsightly risen bumps to contend with, try these natural remedies to help prevent and heal body pimples & acne.

Let your skin breathe

When you know you’re going to sweat, wear cotton or natural fibres so your skin can breathe better. At the gym, try wearing a backless dry-fit top and try to shower right after or at least change your shirt to prevent bacteria building up and causing unwanted blemishes and spots.

Keep bacteria off your skin

The best way to get rid of acne and blemishes is with a complete cleanse. Cleanse your skin of sweat and dirt regularly and immediately after a sweaty activity like a workout.

We have had many happy customers reach out with feedback on how amazing our Lemon Myrtle & Elderflower body wash has been in clearing up chest and back spots and also their teenage kids body acne. Lemon Myrtle & Elderflower are “hero ingredients” in naturally treating acne.  The anti-microbial and anti-fungal compounds in elderflower  & lemon myrtle help to keep the skin healthy and clear. They balance out excess oils helping to prevent break-outs. Elderflowers are ideal for cleansing the skin.

Also focus on the cleanliness of anything coming into contact with your skin. Be diligent in cleaning clothes, your yoga mat, your workout bag, sheets etc.

Use a body exfoliating scrub

Dead skin cells, bacteria, and skin oils are a recipe for acne. They clog the pores causing pimples. Therefore a good body scrub is essential in preventing body acne. It removes bacteria from the skin and helps to exfoliate the pores.

You should use a scrub at least twice a week.

Acne treatment

You can use essentials oils on your spots to speed up their healing.Tea Tree oil and Lemon Myrtle oil are effective at cleansing clogged pores, black heads, white heads and acne.

Tea tree oil is known to fight bacteria and infections caused due to acne.  Just a apply a drop of tea tree essential oil on the affected area.

Lemon Myrtle essential oil is an excellent oil for treating acne and oily skin. You could mix 2 drops of Lemon myrtle oil with your skin care lotion and apply it on your acne or blend with olive oil.

As always – good to do a skin patch test first to check your sensitivity levels to the oils

We love lemon myrtle for it many health and skin benefits which is why we use it  in our Lemon Myrtle & Elderflower Body Wash. Kakadu Plum & Sunflower Body Lotion, Lilly Pilly Body Butter, Waratah & Wattle Seed Body Scrub and our pure cleansing bar.
