It’s the start of a brand-new year and that makes it a perfect time to detox your skin and give it a healthy, fresh start. Help your skin look healthier & more vibrant for the months to come.
Our skin is a major detoxifying organ, that is its one of the major organs involved in eliminating wastes and impurities from your body, mainly through perspiration. If your system is overwhelmed, your skin may develop issues to compensate, help your skin rid of these impurities with a new year skin detox.
If your skin is showing any of the following signs, you could likely benefit from a detox:
- Dull, lack lustre skin

- Wrinkles and sagging skin
- Dry or sensitive skin
So let’s kick off 2019 with a clean fresh start for our skin with the detox steps.
1. Focus on Natural Ingredients
A true skin detox is about avoiding irritating chemicals and toxins in your skincare and instead using products with pure ingredients sourced from nature. Think about how many skincare & personal beauty products you use on average each day? If you are using conventional, mainstream products, they equate to a potentially toxic load being applied directly to your body. The skin absorbs these toxins into your bloodstream, where they then come into contact with every single cell.
On the other hand, your morning ritual could be an opportunity to nourish your cells with plant-based non-toxic products.

2. Detox Cleanse
Perspiration left on our skin provides a breeding ground for bacteria to grow. Excess oil can clog the pores, leading to facial and body acne, or acne-like red bumps and pustules. Therefore its important to rid your face & body of residual product, build up and grime.

This will draw toxins out through the skin and help accelerate the cleansing process. This can also help relieve joint pain as well as skin conditions like eczema and acne.

3. Include Detoxifying foods in your diet
Detox from the inside too. Eating foods that are rich in antioxidants will help remove all the chemical compounds that have built up and are potentially damaging your body.
Some of the best detoxifying foods include:
- Vegetables such as artichoke, avocado, beetroot, broccoli, kale, onions, and garlic.
- Fruits including berries, citrus fruits, pomegranate, apple, and watermelon.
- Herbs such as fennel, dill, dandelion root, and milk thistle.
- Liquids such as coconut water, green tea, and lemon water.
4. Sweat the toxins out
Sweating it out whilst exercising enhances blood and lymph circulation in the body. This accelerates waste elimination from the body. Why not try running, fast walking, yoga or HIIT workouts.
5. Exfoliate to release toxins
Bring your skin back to life by removing dead skin cells. Using an exfoliator will not only boost the benefits of your cleanser but also buff away to give you a baby-soft complexion.
